Have been to the Lodge several times and have never had cause to complain, good service, good food and good value. However, visited 3 weeks ago and chose steak and ale pie. When I started to tuck into it the gravey was full of onions. Now l have had steak and ale pie at several venues but no onions. I hate onions, can’t stand them, imagine my disappointment when I started to eat the meal, ate some but couldn’t finish it. Lots of people love onions and also lots don’t. Perhaps the Lodge might just give this some thought?? I shall still visit the Lodge in the hope that, as in the past any meal I choose I can thoroughly enjoy it.

We visited here on Thursday evening for tea. there was enough seats and the service was good. We didn’t wait to long for our food and it was tasty.
Never visited this pub before but thoroughly enjoyed our meal there last week and couldn't get a booking tonight so others must think the same. My husband and grandson had the smothered chicken and hubby said it was the best he'd tasted. I had the beef lasagne and it was tasty but not the best I'd ever had!! It was quite busy because of the half price deal but enough space between tables and I didn't feel uneasy. Hope to return soon.
Food is good, service is friendly. The service was a little slow but that is to be expected by the amount of covers they were doing. Only four stars because they missed a meal, but did get it out very quickly.
