First trip to see anything touristy post lock down. Was very quiet and peaceful, a mix of history and culture for the area. Lovely displays, informative and well placed. Easy to navigate around and a good route during COVID times. Would highly recommend doing this in the morning, have breakfast in the cafe at 10am and then do the tour.
We decided to visit this instead of the Castle. An excellent decision. The place is amazing because we can wander round the very old lopsided (now) rooms, admire the beautiful wooden floors and beams. It was easy to imagine the inhabitants of yesteryear and indeed talk to some of the present incumbents who ( I felt were a bit like the Chelsea Pensioners) will show you round or just talk about the place as you go round. We had a snack in the cafe and the small gardens are very attractive.
A very interesting place to visit. Well worth the money. There is a discounted rate for over 60s and students.
Fun but sadly it was raining. Didn't let that ruin our experience! Exciting activities, friendly staff and a trip back in time. Would recommend.
