I see the response below from Towergate so this is an edit. The issue has not been resolved and my complaints have not been responded to. I know what to do next, I have the info about the FCA and conduct of business rules and await their reply prior to escalation. Just had a very bad experience with Towergate in Oxted and Your Insurance. They appear to be one and the same. The pricing is not transparent. Basically you give them a licence to fleece you and if you dont pay them what they demand they will trash your credit rating and harrass you by involving threatening debt collectors. They paid themselves 255 pounds in commission & other costs after I cancelled my DDM when they told me after one call I had no policy with them. Six months later I hear from their debt collectors looking for their lost commission and no fees. Avoid. I just took out a policy with Post Office insurance for a third of the price too and I hope better and reachable customer services. Commission is paid by insurance companies to brokers, not by customers after a justified cancellation decision to insure elsewhere.

After 12 years being a loyal customer, and having paid my 2018/2019 premium a year in advance, it seems loyalty counts for nothing, and pettiness overtakes common sence. Sold my boat due to ill health, when finalised on 3rd May, my insurance was due to run out mid June, yet when i sent an email saying I've now sold my boat please cancel, And i let them know that I believe the new owner took a policy out with you on my recommendation. Anyway I promptly received a bill for a pathetic amount of 6.46 after a charge of 25 to cancel in its 11th month. I never had a claim in 12 years so I would not recommend Towergate at all. Needless to say i did not pay it, and they saw the stupidity of their request and waivered the 6.46. Oh how grateful i am.. .NOT.
