Absolutely awful. I was supposed to get therapy after my referral was approved in September. They did not contact me until the second week of January. I strongly recommend that if you want beneficial and adequate help, you should go somewhere where they have a common decency to communicate.

Flexible staff that do what matters when it matters.

I was an out patient there for nearly a year. I was very anxious and lost. I received CBT. My therapist was a middle aged lady who was kind but I don't think she knew exactly what she was doing. She asked me to fill in diaries, questionnaires and gave me some tasks to perform every week, but we never reviewed any of it. I am sad to say it didn't help me at all. I will be honnest I went to the Priory because it has a reputation to help the \celebrities\ ( mostly with detox) and I thought that it would be a good place for everyone. I was wrong. They put their best effort being their celebs clientele but I genuinely didn't fell I mattered or got the appropriate care. I stopped after 1 year as I wasn't getting any better (also, supposedly CBT is a short term therapy). Star fly enough the therapist called me back 5 months later asking if I wanted more treatment!!! Clearly chasing business. Finally the building is depressing, cold, old, dirty and lack privacy. I could hear other talk in corridors during my sessions. I am terribly sorry to say that, at least for outpatients, there are professional places that provide a much better care in London and Greater London. If you want to get better, the Priory may not be your first call. Take care.

The Priory refuse to treat anyone with “complex needs” I.e. someone with more than 1 condition ... which seems insane given that almost everyone with addiction issues has some underlying issue that lead to the addiction in the first place. To tell someone who is reaching out for help that they cannot be treated can be enough to send them over the edge and is hugely dispiriting for someone in a desperate situation. I find it highly unethical that your staff neglect the conditions of the medical oath they are sworn in to. Why enter this field when you have no intention of treating people most in need? SHAME ON YOU! you are not experts or worthy of your reputation for being leaders in the field. The priory only want “quick fixes”, people with minor issues who need to detox for 28 days so that they can send them on their way.

I was here while on section for four weeks and while I was unfortunately in no state to properly engage with the treatment for most of my stay the staff on Garden Wing were very friendly and considerate and really looked me in the eye while I was there in the depths of my psychosis. I want to mention Mo, Gina, Lissie, Robin, Sally, Kim, Sarah and Heidi on the cleaning staff for being there for me while I was in a real low.
