Went to watch Fellini’s 8½ and had a great time. It was announced there would be a talk after the film which I was really looking forward to, but that unfortunately never happened (and there was no explanation on this either). I appreciate they showed the film for free, but I really wanted to hear about the analysis as well, so a shame that didn’t happened.

I have had EXCELLENT teaching here, but not BECAUSE of the Institute, DESPITE it. But dear me. Customer service is NON EXISTENT. When I first joined there was a coffee machine. But since then the machine has broken - not replaced 9 months in, lights have fallen in class rooms and when complaints have been made to the Director he has replied “you come here to study”. Like some Victorian governess. The problem is it’s location, meaning there isn’t a handy coffee place for the breaks. All of this said, for language teaching the courses are expensive but good value-the admin ABYSMAL It’s the professional tutors that keep it afloat , but you always feel they are being over used and under appreciated. I’m afraid it’s everything you would expect from an Italian government institution. Underperforming, uninterested and unfathomable. Disappointing- pity I love Italy otherwise I’d immediately go to the Institute Francaise which is VERY customer focussed.

After pre-planning time off for a course, moving many professional and personal events to suit, the course was cancelled on a Friday evening before a Monday start. The mess that this has caused is compounded by the disappointment. I would never recommend such an organisation.
