I haven't purchased anything yet. Very friendly staff. I tried a banjo of which unfortunately they don't have a big selection, but the instrument is not that popular so thats understandable. The shop is much bigger than it looks. The staff seem well informed in general and they offered sound advice mostly.

Fantastic service, you could tell easily that there was mastery of the instrument and how it works. Serviced a Gretsch Electromatic with fallen input in 3 minutes at no charge, with amazing attitude and confidence, I have no doubt that they would have no problem servicing a more difficult request at a good price. Highly recommended!
I have a 1970's Epiphone Riviera with a really bad action and some resonance issues. I took it to Folkies to see what could be done. I was told the work (restring and setup) would be done within a week or so. Towards the end of the week period, I was contacted by the shop and advised there was a problem with the joint where the neck meets the body which would require gluing. I collected the guitar after around 2 weeks and was delighted with the result - it's was like a completely different instrument. Even the scratch plate which had been tenuously screwed in was re-seated properly. The Luthier did a superb job, with great attention to detail. Great service all round.
Hi I would just like to say that I am lucky to have such a great music shop local to me In folkies music shop. I have got to know all the people who work there and they have been very helpful and very professional. I have a love of guitars and percussion instruments and I have been to a lot of music shops in the past including Soho And tin pan alley as it's commonly known.
