Good experience in the end! Thankful and grateful to the staff at the consulate. Started the process of booking an appointment for ID and Passport renewal in February. Two weeks ago we finally got an appointment for the Citizen Card. The appointment was about 30 minutes late because they were running behind. But the Security and Staff were very helpful and efficient. Application was quick and smooth and not much waiting time. We already have a collection appointment set. Very impressed with it all except it was a long wait from February to get an actual appointment. Covid has not helped them! Make sure you follow the instruction on the email you get for your appointment. Many people arrived to early or late or without the correct documents. You are not helping yourself and probably why some have given bad reviews on here.

Highly securitised. During the pendamic DO NOT FORGET TO CARRY YOUR FACE MASK. Without mask none are allowed to get in, instead the security outside the door sends you back even if you got an appointment. Impressed by the services.

Portuguese in need of a valid ID / Passport to be able to find work and a place to rent in the UK are NOT BEING HELPED and now risking UNEMPLOYMENT and being left ON THE STREET. Makes me wonder if it's truly a COVID safe place? I've been left with no appointment, no valid documents after dislocating to Central London. They cancelled my appointment on the day at the door after having waited 5 months for it. I've put my life at risk (and others') plus missed a full day of work for nothing. They clearly stated on their website they would be serving anyone with both their documents expired (which I had) but on the day of my appointment the rude / clueless security was bouncing everyone off (even those with both documents out of date!). They made everyone fill in these printed forms and online (online doesn't work anymore) and are not offering help or a solution to anything. THIS PLACE SHOULD SIMPLY CLOSE DOWN and reopen in 3-4 different UK cities– more affordable locations (not Oxford Street!!) to be able to cater to the 200,000 Portuguese in the country. ps. They have a reputation for privilege / nepotism, they will serve you right away and speed things up if you happen to know someone that knows someone who works there.
