They are building a power plant at the moment. Not as nice as it used to be. If you want a closer look at the dam, go to Browder’s Marina and play to go onto their private property. It's expensive, but you will get a much closer look at the dam. Wear boots if you go to Browder’s; it's muddy.
It is very very loose sand out there and you can get very stuck very fast so just be prepared.
It's a great area to observe the lake and the "coolest area" to enjoy the breeze coming across the water in a hot day.
I agree with the earlier "Too Full" comment.
They keep the reservoir too full for the people with houses on the shore, so when it rains a ton everyone downstream gets flooded.
