My 6 year old son really enjoys taking piano lessons at MDAS of Douglaston. He’s been a student for almost 1 year at this point. Really great for beginners. His teacher has been really kind, patient and engaging. We really like this studio. Parking is tough, although there is metered parking outside.

My daughter loves the pianotheory lesson. Great for beginners like her. COVID-19 hit a week after my daughter started with just one week of face-to-face instruction. Virtual classes were quickly developed for 1:1 piano instruction as well as small-group theory lesson. These virtual classes are invaluable in bringing sense of normalcy during the shutdown. Of course, virtual classes can never replace in-person instruction, but the effort of the owners must be commended. In fact, the lessons are 1,000,000-times better compared with the disastrous emote learning\ done by the NYC public school system. Five weeks into this strange new world, everyone hates the DOE remote learning but we are fortunate to have the Tue and Wed music lessons to look forward to.
This is a nice place for the kids to explore ballet, music and art. Also, Ms. Alexandra is wonderful.
We cannot say enough wonderful things about this school! Our oldest daughter, age 9, takes music theory and guitar and our middle daughter, age 6, takes the art class here. They have been going since this past September and they have already learned so much! They absolutely love their teachers and their classes. There is a very effective approach to teaching the fine arts at the Music, Dance, and Art School of Douglaston... the teachers, who are also incredibly kind, are talented members of their own crafts and they set excellent examples for their students. The owners are lovely ladies who always greet you with a smile and we all look forward to seeing every member of MDASD every week.
My son has been learning music theory and piano at this school since he was five years old. He tells me, “my favorite part of the class is theory because I like drawing music notes and learning music with my friends in a group. I also like my piano teacher because he has a lot of piano skills that I get so impressed with. He is great because he helps me learn music scales on piano.”
