While I am aware that Lidl is great value for money, it is true that you get what you pay for. I am not sure whether it is just the Walsall branch, but on more than a few occasions, I have brought food that has been defective: 1) After buying a cauliflower, I peeled back the leaves to find a caterpillar underneath them! 2) After buying a bag of salad, I opened it to find a HUGE stinging nettle inside! 3) Milk and cheese I have brought and opened on the SAME day were off/covered in mould. 4) Oftentimes in summer, there are flies crawling on the fruit, which is sometimes split open. I won't be shopping here again if I can help it. I'd rather pay more at another supermarket if the food is going to be of better quality.

Plenty of bargains as usual. Nice and quiet on early visit ,and 100% covid protection by all

I called customer services to inform them that I had purchased potatoes from here and they smell. I was told thanks for informing us and the quality control people will look into it. After a few days they sent me a letter saying that as a good gesture I would get a full refund if I took this letter in store. They thought it was good gesture to give a full refund for something that was off, They put these same variety of potatoes on offer presumably to sell them quickly. Once I went with coffee blender and receipt to ask for a refund as it was not working, The cashier said you have to phone customer services and they will give you a letter to bring in store to get a refund. I was shocked and said it’s not working I got receipt and product. She called manager he said give them ten quid refund. She was advising manager no they have to get letter after calling he said to her give money and keep receipt. I think customer service is very bad although shopping may be a little cheaper. They don’t understand that good gesture is if you give over and above cost not full refund for a product that is sub standard. Their competitors have good gesture which really is good gesture especially when they give you double money back or 5 or 12 gift card for not meeting standards.

Although not as roomy as some Lidls, some good bargains to be had compared to other grocery stores and it's all as good, often better, quality.
