An extremely well presented museum about the development of writing and print through to digital times. Some superb artifacts in a thought provoking and informative exhibition. The building itself is interesting too. Allow a good two to three hours. The adjacent national library building houses a cafeteria serving a good selection of snacks and meals.
like
Cannot say much more than the building outside, by the fact I came late for a visit.
Why make it simple? As a visiting researcher to next building Institute for Biodiversity I was very surprised to not be able to enter the lecture room without registration and payment (if I understood correctly as my German is not so good). Anyway, what's the point to restrict entry to people interested in books? I wonder what the 3 euros city-tax per night is for... maybe so we have access to shopping center? Please take example on US Philadelphia Library & Congress libraries, Adelaide and Melbourne libraries in Australia where libraries are a public space!
Beautiful library building. Located close to the university and to the botanic garden. There is a cafeteria underground with a lot of options even to have lunch. Prices are ok. If you wanna drink a Coca-cola, there is a machine outside the cafeteria. They don't sell them in the cafeteria :)
I love it
Good place
Don’t even think about coming here if you aren’t fluent in german, and are able to deal with hostile staff :)
