North End Pub is a classic in Leiden, where a lot of locals will show up for a pint at one point in time or another. They serve a diverse array of beers, whiskeys, and a cider or two for quite a decent price. The meals are also perfectly fine in the pub food category. However, what gives North End its true pub-vibe is also one of the reasons why newcomers will slightly frown when walking in: its heavily fading glory. With worn carpets and very little of the modern coziness, North End seems to stay exactly the way it once was. The regular staff behind the bar isn't a warm personality, and the kitchen isn't always open which you won't be told unless you genuinely ask. Ordering is to happen at the bar, where drinks also have to be picked up by yourself. It's a pub vibe that you have to get accustomed to and once you have adapted it's fine but it is quite rough around the edges. But as said, the drinks are very reasonably priced and the food is good and this is why I return almost every time I'm in town.
Nice English pub in the city-center of Leiden. About 8 beers from the beer tap and plenty of whiskeys. The atmosphere is cozy brown and the crowd is a mix of students and older people. There are 2 rooms and it is possible to have a separate party. The bartender's seem to know what they are doing.
