We’ve been fortunate and delighted to have been able to send our 3 very different sons to Ratcliffe College. Each of them responded to the very personal approach of the teachers and the schools focus on looking after the pupil as a person and not just chasing the results. All three boys made friends for life and since leaving are also benefiting from the support and contacts of the Old Ratcliffians Association.

I found the school enjoyable when studying there, however when you leave the lack of support you get, despite being an 'Old Ratcliffian' is appalling. Particularly from the heads of department, having requested for them to fill things out on my UCAS application such as predicted grades and personal statement, they either ignored my emails or refused. I think what was most disappointing was that I wanted to retake one of my A levels, which I thought was quite important and yet on results day they seemed that they were not bothered and didn't have time. They used degrading comments and made me feel very uncomfortable. Furthermore, the school didn't put me in for my retake because they were \unsure\ and yet, instead of informing me, they ignored it and if i had not rang up the school, my years worth of study would have been wasted. (I also had to pay late entry fees due to this mistake). In summary, the school is great when you are there, but they don't care once you have left.

We are very proud of our school and our students, and in 2015 the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate found us to be ‘Excellent’ in every category that they judged. To quote from their Report: • The school is a safe and healthy place for pupils to grow up, and their welfare is central to the school’s life and work. • The pupils’ social awareness is outstanding; their very strong affection for their school community is profound and was very strongly evident in the pupils’ interviews. • Pupils embrace the values of tolerance, the rule of law, and democracy and they have a heightened awareness of faiths and cultures other than their own. We are aware that not all schools suit all children, nevertheless, we are far from complacent and our teachers strive hard to continue provide the best for all our students and their families.
