Staff were friendly, sauce was good, but cheese was not gooey and soft, but kinda crunchy. Maybe not high enough fat content.. or cooked too long. Crust isn't the buttery bubbly flaky Chicago style I know from home, but rather regular pizza crust shaped in a deep dish pan. Overall it was decent, but didn't satisfy my taste for Chicago style pizza.

Super disappointed with Leftys - we are regular customers and called tonight to make an order for the whole family and the woman we spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude. We asked about what pizza they had by the slice and the woman on the phone was super annoyed but told us the deep dish pizzas. We asked for 2 slices of sausage and while she was on the phone we heard her sell the same slices to someone else and then she said \oh now there's only one\. She then told us they were super busy and didn't have time to talk to us on the phone? Weird, considering we are also customers. We were put off and even though we were regular customers we're happy to never go again - the pizza is good but it's not worth being treated like that.
I had the Italian beef & it was fantastic. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant. The owner, Lauren, was very nice and patiently explained the menu. Highly recommended
Good food, good people. We went there because someone said they had good pizza. We went back because they have fantastic pizza. We've been going to Lefty's for about 5 years, and the food stays top quality. We've had their salads, all are perfect, sandwiches are amazing and unique. A perfect day is getting food from Lefty's and going to the park for a picnic.
Do not come here expecting Chicago style pizza. The pizza is fine, but there is definitely more \chicago\ chicago style pizza in San Diego. However if you come here expecting reasonable pizza, you won't be disappointed.
