Lovely lunch. Although this is a teaching restaurant, this didn't reflect in the Quality of the food nor the service. Would definitily return and recommend.

A couple of weeks ago we went to Wannee. It was a surprising experience, in it’s most positive meaning! We were welcomed in the bar with a glass of cava and several appetizers, among which the beetroot dim sum . The restaurant has a very open and modern design that suits the atmosphere. The diner menu is based on the 80/20 principle and surprises you with very tasty and appealing dishes such as KFC Cauliflower (better than the actual KFC ) and a beautiful Beluga style version of potato and leek. Cassian served us some great wines (and some great stories!) and J Yoon and Irene served us in a very hospitable and professional way. We stayed in Notiz Hotel, so we were lucky and got to enjoy breakfast in Wannee as well. Wannee serves a standard breakfast ánd an a la carte breakfast. On this a la carte menu you find both local and international bites, which are a great contribution to your breakfast! We especially loved the French Toast and the Miso Soup. During breakfast we were served by Mark, who was just a natural. Long story short; when in Leeuwarden, visit Wannee. The food, the drinks, but especially the hospitality of the students guarantee a great experience!

Went there for my birthday as we wanted to try fine dining. It is difficult to book over the weekend, so make sure you do it on time. The place is a student restaurant where students of the nearby hospitality school serve the dishes. We went for the full tasting menu of 6 course with 6 wines, it costs 120 EUR in total and it's plenty. Everything tasted good quality and delicious, the menu compliments the season to be able to use more fresh ingredients (asparagus in our case). Service was good and explanations were satisfactory for an average foodie. We had a great time but please be prepared for at least a 3 hour show if you choose the full menu (which I highly recommend!)

The restaurant is a part of Stenden Hotelmanagement School which means you are being served by students. That's no problem but it may be that it is not always very professional. I don't really get the food philosophy though. It seems to be that Wannee enforces a 20%/80% rule if it comes to meat and vegetable ingredients. Not always to my liking to be honest.
