Great place for a quiet stroll, lots of birdlife. Even when there are lots of people there, you can always find a quiet path to walk along. Gets a bit wet in winter but what do you expect. Boots are the way to go.

My first visit - really just cycling through on a sunny December Saturday. Good wide paths (plenty of space for dual use). Good views from the top of the hill and some spectacular old opencast machinery. Wasn't particularly looking for birds; saw some ducks, but didn't get close enough to genotype them

If you like nature walks, this is the place for you. The RSPB have made this area into a fantastic nature reserve. Huge variety of birds to see and different walks to chose from. Loved it.

Absolutely love this hidden gem! Parking is 4 but so worth it. Visitor centre and toilets currently not in use but the volunteers ensure there are plenty of refreshments available to purchase. The reserve itself is stunning, it is very popular but there are so many route options that you can walk for ages without seeing anyone. We take our pram and find the routes to be very family friendly. Perfect.
