While most of the stores are closed, the meat, fish and veg stores are all open and look busy. Same outside, only the fruit and veg stalls were open. You could buy a tea or coffee and some food and enjoy it in the cool but dry interior of the market. Perfect for me. I understand Monday to Thursday it is quieter.

Whatever you want you can find at the Market. There is a great atmosphere, and you can easily get drawn into it. The meat and fish markets are excellent, great value and a wide selection to choose from. That does not take away from all the other great stalls. Besides the indoor market on certain days there is an outdoor market adjacent to it, which is also worth a visit for fresh vegetables. Lovely original buildings in parts and surely everything anyone could need to buy. The market goes on and on with many stalls under the newer undercover part and then the outside market that leads down to the bus station. You could spend hours here.
It's a shame what Leeds city council have done to Leeds market, it's a beautiful place that used to be absolutely booming with shops. The rents have been so hiked that people can no longer afford to have their stalls in here, all because LCC want to develop the inside market into accommodation for financial gain.
It's cool for a couple of reasons... The toilets are great to drink in, stealing from some of the stalls is easy, and one of the mobile phone shops is great as they don't mind knocking money off if you're skint.
Still open for business throughout lock down with a wide variety of fresh produce and tasty takeaways. Would recommend the Karpaty bakery for sweet treats.
