Amazing meat restaurant in the center of Vieux Lille. My wife and I had the shallot onglet and the mushroom onglet. Each of those were outsandingly delicious and the servings were generous (250g each). The meat was cut right in front of us by a trained professional and served with a salad, a delicious ratatouille and some of the best fries we had in France yet. We also shared a fondant au chocolat that was good, but not great. If you are looking for a delicious meat feast in the heart of Lille, you should definitely try Le Fossile.

Friendly service, nice setting, good wine suggestions. However, the speciality of the house (\l'onglet\), was not impressive (the dish was not so warm and I would use more herbs to give the meat some more flavour).
Great service, the waiter was fluent in English and very positive. Steak was done exactly as we asked and came with many nice sides. Perfect place in Lille

Le Fossil is a great restaurant very near to the Novotel. In summer you can sit outside. Food is every bit as good as you would expect. BTW sorry about the photo, that's a WW1 German Cemetery that's been picked up from my phone for some reason.

This was a place where they barely spoke English, but the dining experience was superb. Very cozy, yet sophisticated interior, simple menu (mysterious onglet turned out to be hanger steak cut into smaller pieces right in front of you - quite excellent, even compared to a variety of filet choices - served with amazing sauces), fantastic service, list of Laubade Armagnacs dating back to 1812, excellent deserts. Overall a great experience.
