Langstone Habour Master patrol and regulate Portsmouth and Hayling slipways. While Hayling slipway is kept in excellent order, unfortunately Portsmouth slipway is unusable 9 months of the year. Even 4 wheel drives get stuck there - its very dangerous - the shingle banks being between 3 and 6 foot height to access the water. Fees for using this slipway are 14 a day, or between 50 and 160 a year, while this has been an ongoing problem for at least 7 years. Would NEVER recommend paying the fees for such dismal service, they and the council have a duty of care to maintain and keep this public slipway in working order... They Fail!
