How did it all begin? In December 2017 I became active with "Boeren van Nederland"​ (Farmers of the Netherlands). It's an enthusiastic group of farmers who want to get in contact with society. One of the things we stimulate is to get out of your comfortzone and find your own farmers challenge, one that really fits you. And off course I didn't want to stay behind. At about the same time I got acquainted with a goat dairy farm, on which I occasionally help milking, trimming hoofs, feeding the goats and lambs, all in all, whatever is needed. I truly enjoy working with the goats, and what I don't like is the fact that billy-goats leave the farm quite soon after they are born, they are slaughtered, because they have no economic value. That is a bit strange, but in the Netherlands we are not used to eating goat meat and off course billy goats don't give milk. I thought this can and should change, I travelled quite a bit and ate goat meat on several occasions, really tasty! And besides that, or most important I like to give billy goats a longer and pleasant life. When you think something, say something, just put it in action. I selected 7 billy goats: Frits, Erik, Hans, Koert, Spekkie, Kebab and Saté.
