Beautiful place to enjoy peace, light candles, remember and pray. Lancaster Priory, formally the Priory Church of St Mary, is the Church of England parish church of the city of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. It is located near Lancaster Castle and since 1953 has been designated a Grade I listed building. I would definitely recommend visiting this wonderful Church.

A nice church with very classic architecture. The organ in particular has a stunningly intricate design. Worth the visit if you are in the area.

Wonderful visit. A step back into the history. Absolutely stunning building in wonderful setting. Worth visiting! Lancaster Priory Church which has been closed for the longest period in its thousand-year history has emerged into the light after the lifting of lockdown restrictions (written on 1st Sept 2020). The 15th Century Priory and Parish Church of Lancaster standing by the Castle on the hill above the River Lune, overlooking the city, is built on the site of a priory which was founded in 1094. The site has been used since at least Roman times, and traces of Roman fortifications can still be seen in the field north of the church. You can see the Roman remains by following the footpath which leads from the Priory down towards St. George's Quay. The interior is mostly medieval but has 13 centuries of history, evident from traces of a Saxon church,, 14th Century choir stalls, superb tapestries, and King’s Own Memorial Chapel. The present building holds Viking ornaments, crusaders’ coffins and part of Jacobean ‘three-decker’ pulpit. The Memorial Chapel holds arguably the most complete collection of Regimental Colours in the country.

Stunning 10th century castle and church built atop a hill on the outskirts of central Lancaster. The castle is in active use as a court room. It offers guided tours, although we were happy just to wonder about the grounds and appreciate the beauty at winter sunset. Definitely worth a visit as it's not packed with tourists and is a short walk from the city centre.

My experience at The Priory was outstanding! An excellent opportunity to view a national traveling museum. Not to mention a fascinating talk all about the Sun, our closest star! I will be keeping my eyes peeled for more intriguing events happening at the Priory.
