My first time using Ethel & Em, I found them when looking for a specific yarn and they had the largest quantity and most competitive pricing. After I had placed my order Melanie called me to be confirm the dye lots in my order. She left both a really lovely voice message and dropped me a text. She was also so kind and friendly when I spoke to her on the phone, really taking her time to ask about what I was making and showing a real interest. My order arrived on Monday, which is essentially next working day, as it must have been sent out on Saturday to arrive on Monday, despite the website suggesting 3-5 working days for delivery. It was wonderfully (and sustainably!) packaged as well, plus included a little 'thank you' gift! I later found out that Melanie is the owner and currently the only member of staff running Ethel & Em, due to the Pandemic and furlough. The fact that she is providing this level of service with so much kindness and personal detail nearly a year into the COVID nightmare is astounding! So glad to have discovered this small business and can't wait to order from them again to be able to support them further! (Just sorry that I cant visit the shop!)

I found this website by chance when looking for just one ball of yarn that I was short of to finish a project. The shop owner was really helpful in sending me a picture of the yarn in question to confirm the colour. She also replied to my emails in a friendly and helpful way. She did all of this knowing full well that I only intended to purchase one ball of yarn. If I lived in the Lancaster area I would definitely go into the shop (when Boris allows us to go out). I only wish we had a shop and service like this in my area. When my \one ball of yarn\ arrived it included a small gift (shown on photo) which was a really lovely gesture. Brilliant friendly service.

Wow, what a great selection of yarn. I'm a complete beginner and the owner has been super helpful and pointed me in the right direction. I look forward to returning once I've completed my first project!
