What an amazing place, a huge expanse of water and a great big dam. Enjoyed a lovely picnic outside and took in the scenery. The view walking across the dam is spectacular and well worth the visit. Easy to get to. Would love to go again and perhaps see more further round. One day!

Lovely places, they have various walks laid out from short 2 mile to long 15 mile., lovely views. The only issue was that the circular road had closure due to rocks. finally a big thank you to who looks after the toilets over the bridge. One of the best kept public toilets I've seen. Well done
Great place for afternoon visit with Cafe and bird sanctuary beautiful views of the Welsh countryside closed at the moment because of covid restrictions
Well worth a visit, gets busy peak periods (weekends) plenty of parking. Nice trail, kayaking, birdwatching etc The Vyrnwy dam is 146 ft high from the bottom of the valley, and 120 ft thick at the base; it is 1,165 ft long and has a road bridge running along the top. It is decorated with over 25 arches and two small towers each with four corner turrets rising 14 ft above the road surface.
Really great piece of engineering and amazing to see. Thoroughly recommend a trip here - we were really lucky with the weather and I can imagine this would be quite bleak in winter but our late September trip was perfect. Don't miss out on a Kelly's ice-cream just over the bridge!
