Good ambience & service, but food could be better. Had the 3 course dinner. Starter of fish soup and main of duck were average. Please do not get the apple tart - was burnt and tasteless. The creme brûlée looks better.
No words, the best restaurant in Paris for an affordable price. The basic menu you can choose one entree, one main dish and one dessert. The entree I suggest escargot for the curious and adventurous it is super fresh and it tastes of sea and herbs, beyond the funny experience of eating it with the weird spoon-scissors. For the less corageous I can suggest the onion soup, it is magnificent and very traditional in France. For main dish, I suggest something with meat but surely the one that is accompanied by little balls of potato/cheese (they are amazing!!!!). For the desert, please don't try any other sweet rather than the Creme Brulee. Verlaine's creme brulee is the best one I found in Paris and I ate creme brulee everywhere as it is my favourite dessert. Please don't even bother to ask 2 different desserts to share, just ask 2 creme brulees otherwise you will both fight for the amazing brulee! I never write reviews but this restaurant is the most peculiar and important tip that I can give to someone visiting Paris. Please don't miss it!!!!

I love this place! We got the set (29).The restaurant is a bit busy and crowded. However, the service is good still. The food is so delicious.
I wandered in last summer when I was in Paris for a mere week en route. I was looking for a restaurant I'd known and loved for years, but it was ferme, alas. So I went around the corner and hit upon Verlaine. I though the food was very, very good and quite inexpensive!
Very welcoming and traditional French restaurant. Even with our very bad French they treated us with warm hospitality. Like many places in Paris, the second time you go, they like you. The third time you go you are almost family. I don’t know what happens the fourth time; I wish I had had time to find out!
We booked a table based on the good recommendation. Unfortunately, the visit was quite a desaster.... We ordered first courses (snails and fois gras) and lamb racks and fish as main course. While the first courses were ok, they were simply presented without any love. The toasts with the fois gras were simple industrial crackers, one side soft, one side hard. When eating the snails, my son accidentally spilled some of the sauce onto the map. Then the waiter literally complained that we stained his map. Speaking of service.... The owner's son made frequent smoking breaks by sitting at a guest table near us. Never present, never refilling water, we had to ask for everything. Main courses were really a disappointment. Fish overcooked Ragout (promised were filets) in an industrial sauce, cooked to death veggies (surely not fresh), the meat served on a plate like in fast food with not a single piece of decoration. Avoid this restaurant if you want to experience culinary Paris.
