The western end of the Maginot line it was pounded by the Germans and sadly the whole garrison died. Left as a \visitor attraction\ by the Germans it is still as it was in 1940. Technically fascinating, human story, great guide, what more could you want? There are a lot of stairs to climb but I would do it again tomorrow.
A sad place as with all war cemeteries. Such a lot all died on the same day, overcome by fumes in tunnels they had spent 3 years building. Need to book the tours they do to the underground passages to enjoy the place. They only do them for pre booked groups.

Really good place to review the history. And I have never thought that one day I’d be in place appeared in my high school text bois. The working staff explained and guided everything so well along the tour. Also with patient along the tour and very very nice!
An amazing part of the Maginot line where the defenders held till their last. We stumbled upon driving from bouillon to stennay and what a find it was. The cemetery which contains the defenders is across the road from the memorial adjoined to the Fort.
