Had lunch there today, prior to some business nearby and had had high expectations due to all the rave reviews online. Although my wife and I usually eat out once or twice a week, I don't normally bother to write reviews (and certainly haven't enjoyed writing this one. However, I don't know if La Bergerie has changed hands, or if today the chef'was off sick, or what, but it was certainly the worst meal we've had this year, and probably the worst in all the time we've lived in the Aveyron. The confit de canard appeared to have been reheated sous vide rather than in an oven, so instead of a crisp golden shell, it just had a pale, thick layer of inedible blubber; The meat underneath was warm, not hot and although moist, was too tough to easily come off the bone. I often confit duck legs at home and felt the original confit process had not been long enough. But far worse, was the accompanying gratin of puréed Bruxelles which we suspected had been left over from a previous day (an Aveyronnais riff on bubble and squeak?). I only had a couple of mouthfuls, but its taste lingered until I got home and was able to brush my teeth. On the plus side, the service was friendly, the wine and coffee were OK and, as we skipped dessert, the bill was only 30.
NOTE: The marker is in the wrong place - should be 500m West. 07/06/2015 On the D911 in Aveyron the hunger pangs demanded attention. We (mature couple) normally have a light lunch on a journey - a sandwich usually satisfies. We saw La Bergerie and decided to see what was on offer. A warm welcome and immediate attention despite a healthy, lunchtime clientèle. We ignored the temptations offered on the menu and settled for Trout Meuniere, a glass of vin rosé and coffee. The fish was delicious - possibly the best we have ever tasted - the wine chilled and refreshing - the coffee spot on. All for 17 Euros!!! Highly recommended - worth going out of your way for.
