A Michelin recommended shop specializing in sweet Chinese pudding
like
I got the red bean pudding and it tastes OK. They are priced in Wight not by pisces
Too expensive. 12/pcs
Just like many local comments have stated, the place is overrated and not that great. I got the layered sesame cake 芝麻糕 for 10, the white sugar cake 白糖糕 for 8 and the classic 砵仔糕 also for 8. There’s another shop a few blocks down that sell similar food for much cheaper, 5 each or 3/14. This shop is right outside the MTR exit so if you’re coming from the MTR it’s not a bad place to try. But if you’re like me coming specifically to try it out then I would say save yourself the time.
The shop looks like it's been there for a while. You see all the cakes and treats on offer in baskets at the front. There is quite a variety of these cakes and some look identical to each other. A friend ordered a few things for us so unsure how good their English is, but you can always just point and hope for the best. We tried a few of their glutinous rice flour based items. I personally didn't like the flavours since they weren't sweet. The chewiness was nice though. Quite an interesting place to stop by to try traditional dishes.
Small modest shop in SSP well known for traditional Chinese snacks made out of rice, glutinous rice, flour, beans etc. Used to be cheap eats now like everything in HK, prices keep going up. Had the red bean pudding 紅豆砵仔糕 and white sugar cake 白糖糕, now 9 each.
