After the Greek family Daskalidès-Kestekides established in Ghent in 1923, Daskalidès produced and sold craft-made pralines. Later, his son, Jean Daskalidès, would take over the lead and conquer the international market. Daskalidès, led by Alexandre, son of Jean, was awarded in France with the prestigious Laurier d’Or de la Qualité because of the exceptional chocolate quality, the beautiful shape and the excellent taste. To date, Daskalidès is in the hands of another Ghent family, Temmerman, who has a rich history in confectionery and chocolate since 1904.
