The best place we ate during our 3 days in Krakow. It is a very atmospheric subterranean restaurant. The food and wine were excellent and it was good to eat some proper local Polish fayre. The owner was the epitome of a gentleman who couldn't do enough for you. He even remembered which hotel we were staying in and rang them the next day to tell them my wife had left her glasses on the table. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Location and decoration are great, the food is really a bad experience. After a week of hotel food in a busy place I was looking for a more exquisite and calm place. First impression is impressive, quiet and refined tables nicely set, soft background piano music. I ordered a glass of Polish red wine and an Angus with grilled vegetables. The meat was tough and hard to cut, to the point I was doubting it was Angus. Vegetables were extremely oily and not really grilled. It came with fries that tasted like oil had been recycled for quite a few cooking cycles. My glass of wine was taken away, not empty, as they took my plate away. I didn't want to try dessert. Absolutely disappointed, reviews were mostly good, felt like I fell in a tourist trap.
The amount of food compared to the price is ridiculous. I couldn't handle the 6 course meal so I just had 3. But it left me so full... I could barely walk... And all in all it cost less than a normal main course (at a similar restaurant) in the US.
Good food and atmosphere. It's in the basement so not so convenient for wheelchairs. They have some sampling share dishes which are good for 2 or more but we are small eater. Only try the soup and the ribs.
Great place to eat. Set in a very well designed cellar and beautifully clean. 1st class service and the food is simply amazing. Ideal for the romantic night out with your partner. Wish we had time for a second visit.
Very good experience. I found this restaurant very spontaneous. Service was perfect. Food was sensational and a good house wine. Everything was perfect including the price. Highly recommend.
Absolutely loved this restaurant well worth a visit. The food was superb I am a fussy eater and there plenty of choice on the menu for me. I had the steak for my main and it was cooked to perfection. Amazing atmosphere and truly unique setting well worth a visit
