The Passport Pier was built in order to prevent the disturbance of public order and uncontrolledness in the city during the construction of the quay between 1867 and 1886. The pier, built by the French, was built with the style of 1st National Architecture, which was influenced by the Ottoman and Seljuk architecture. Due to the importance of the city of zmir in the trade of the Ottoman Empire, port administration buildings were also included in the pier building. The building, which was used as a passport control office at the time of its construction, was one of the most active places of the time with its many hotels and entertainment venues around it. The region lost its ostentatious structures in the fire of 1922 and later lost its importance with the transportation of the port.

Küçük bir iskele ama sürekli geliş gidiş olduğundan kalabalık sürekli değişiyor. Tuvaletleri genel çok hijyenik değil. Bisiklet ve engelli yolları mevcut. Yer darlığından ikiye ayrılan bölüm Karşıyaka Bostanlı karışabiliyor. Personel de durumun farkında olduğundan her iki kapıda açılıyor.
