Had the owner, Ian, come and do a quote for my skylight which had started leaking. Within a few hours of the request, Ian had gotten in touch with me and made it out to take a look. The price was competitive and Ian was very personable; without too much time we moved forward with the job. Dewar requires 50% of the job expense paid upfront and 50% paid after the job is complete. Dewar offers all types of payment options and the payment process was seamless. From a communication perspective I was never wondering where we were in the process; top notch delivery from a communication aspect. Leading up to the job, Ian kept me posted on the status of the skylight delivery as well as his proposed job date. During the job, I was updated on progress as well as any challenges that popped up. On the day of the job, Ian and Liam showed up right on time and got to work. Within a few hours, the new skylight was installed. The final product has a fantastic look and the best part is it doesn't leak. Overall, Dewar exceeded my expectations. I would recommend them to anyone looking to have some work done.
Dewar was recommended to us by Velux skylights as a certified installer. Ian met with us quickly to quote the skylight replacement and the quote was competitive. He and his team got the new skylight installed within 2 weeks, when other companies were offering installation next year. They did a thorough job with close attention to detail. I am a multiple project repeat customer of Dewar Home Improvements. I initially had Dewar replace a large dining room rear window at my home while also installing a new wall and French doors to properly define a dining room in our open concept space. Dewar then replaced 5 windows along the front 2nd floor of my home, followed with a complete bathroom remodel including solar tube installation. Based on the strength of these projects and our working relationship, Dewar was contracted to replace all windows in our circa-1858 commercial office building renovation which involved 29 windows and 5 doors. Ian is an excellent technical problem solver, and on a complex job is able to come up with solutions to unforeseen circumstances. He went to great lengths to match style, materials, and finishes that were in harmony with the era of the building. We are now working with him company to plan a new front entrance. Ian conducts business in an extremely professional manner with clear quotes, no BS pricing, the right products recommended for each application, and convenient online invoicing. He as a great sense of what is fair pricing from his suppliers, and has nurtured those relationships over the years. He has an obsessive attention to detail, setting standards for his team's work that will often surpass that of his clients. He will set up a tent outside of the building to perform cutting in order to minimize dust inside the building. Clean up is performed at the end of each day. If using sub-trades on a project, they are forbidden by Ian to smoke on the client's property. Ian is an effective communicator and will often call in with project updates, or to ensure we are aligned on project decisions. Thanks to Dewar Home Improvements for so many successfully completed projects.
Ian and his team renovated two floors in our home including a bathroom and kitchen. He was professional, honest and reliable. All of the folks that he worked with were as well. The renovation was smooth and I am so pleased with the final project. Thank you Ian!
Our business had 6 large windows installed and a door with sidelights. We waited six weeks for the windows as was promised, and we had excellent communication with Ian as installation date approached. Pricing was very fair and was the lowest of three quotes we obtained. Our invoiced price matched the quotation. All cutting was carried out outside and any mess was cleaned up at the end of the day. Workmanship was excellent and we are very satisfied with the end product. Ian and his staff were great to deal with very professional. I would highly recommend Dewar Home Improvements.
