I paid online fully for a room using a card for a friend that was out of sorts and needed a place to stay during winter. I could not be with my friend in person because I was in another country at the time. I paid remotely using a web interface, and the transaction went through securely. The hotel refused to take my friend into the paid room because she didn't have a credit card with personally, presumably for a security deposit. I offered to pay a deposit up front, they would not accept it. They refused to negotiate any agreement to allow her to go into a room for the night. After turning her away, they also kept the charge on my card that I had fully paid for the room with. So (1) they took my money without providing a room at all and (2) left my friend out in the cold regardless a room that was paid for, even after I had offered to make any security deposit they needed. I consider this both bad business and unethical, so I've giving the one star review. Update: March 15, 2021 the owner said they sent a refund, but I just looked at my bank account. The charge was 88.11 through booking.com. The refund is 12.75. :( The owner also said they give alternate options. I'm not sure what he means because I talked to the clerk when my friend was trying to check in and they basically said it was impossible to open the door to the room at all without a credit card in had of the guest. She actually had a debit card and they wouldn't accept that.

Nice and cozy rooms with great room service. Breakfast has good items in menu. Perfect location as its in downtown with all major bus and train stations nearby.
Got the "wild package" and reservations didnt match the promises made. Took the package told the discount on tickets, free parking and breakfast included .... not true... sat down at the buffet and was handed a bill and parking fee added at the checkout. Other than that the pool area was very clean and the room was just right. The kids enjoyed the stay and we all had a great nights sleep.
This hotel is fab.Moreover the staff is very helping spacially the indian manager vijay.He is very helpful .crown plaza must feel proud to have staff like vijay.
The hotel was renovated last year. The bed was very comfortable. It is located in downtown Kitchener. Suggest not to walk by yourself at night. Other than that, everything was pretty good there.
Parking isn't the greatest During covid. Long walk from the car to hotel. After a long day of work the last thing I wanted to do was walk 10 min to get to my room
2 stars because the beds were comfortable enough and the customer service was ok. I stayed at the Hilton a few weeks ago and during COVID, their cleaning standards were up to par. This hotel was not. Sinks not wiped down, shower handles dirty, mini fridge was leaking. No breakfast, no pool, no gym, no meeting room, no room service. If I wasn’t here for work I would’ve just stayed home! It takes some extra effort to accommodate during COVID but this hotel just didn’t make any.
This is a late review! I checked in to this hotel to stay for a couple of nights. At the check in they served the guy who jumped the line. After I explained it to them they gave me free parking which I didn’t need at the time. The room was clean but the beds were not comfortable. The breakfast , I give it 4 stars. The coffee and restaurant deserves not more than three stars. Overall a basic three star hotel with very limited amenities.
