I hired 6 kilts from Wilkies for our wedding on the 23/3/2019. Firstly may I say Irene was superb. 3 kilt hire were measured in the shop on a Saturday morning and the other 3 were a measure as the guys lived south of the border. Myself best man and usher did try our jackets on in shop on the order day. Everything was going nicely when I picked them up and dropped them of at the hotel. Because if flight pick ups etc I only got to try mine on after 8 pm the 22/3/2019. To my disappointment my jacket was a size 54 not a 48 which I am. I contacted Irene by txt and had to go back into the shop next morning at 9.30. She didn’t have a jacket to fit me so I got married in a jacket to big fir me. The lady who measured me up (not Irene) hadn’t put my jacket size on my form so instead of contacting me they just put in what they thought. So if your thinking of using Wilkies firstly make sure it’s Irene you deal with and also this shop is closed on a Friday which I didn’t know at time of booking. Overall for piece of mind best give it a miss. Fred Webster Considering I paid Wilkies 480 cash for these kilts it was not down to me to go to another supplier pay for a jacket then return to get a reimbursement. Also the reason I didn’t go across the road was that I was getting married 2 hours later. It was not my fault your member of staff didn’t note the size down in the first place. Maybe some retraining is in order or even someone more qualified .

I tried three or four kilt hire shops both in Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy and thought Wilkies had the nicest and best laid out selection. I eventually chose the Highland Granite. The layout is nice, with a few mannequins out on display to look at. Good system in place where you pick up your outfit on the Wednesday, try it on at home, if something doesn't fit quite right, then take it back in on the Thursday to change it. The kilt hire side is shut on the Friday and then usually the function is at the weekend, before you return the outfit by 11am on the Monday. Only thing they didn't have is a changing room, however it's nice to try on the whole ensemble at home, which takes a bit of time...and space ! Staff were pleasant and helpful, whilst the price for hire was very competitive. I would certain use Wilkies again.
