recommend! hospitality owner and delicious food
Walk distance from kyoto station and very cozy also. I don’t know much about Japanese hotpot food but no doubt this restaurant is great. There’s no english menu so it would be convenient to check out some food name in Japanese before visiting.
For someone who has only tried Sukiyaki in Singapore, this place completely changed what I know and expect from a good Sukiyaki. There was a generous amount of wagyu beef, fresh vegetables and great service. The lady was helping us cook the ingredients starting by stir frying the beef in the Sukiyaki pot with just a little of the soup base (in comparison, it comes in a pot filled with soup base in Singapore). When the flavor from the beef is locked into the soup base, the lady then add in the fresh vegetables, ready to be infused with the rich flavor. The restaurant is very small and has limited seats. Reservations is a must. I would encourage you asking your hotel concierge to make the phone call for you as they don't really speak English that well. It was 4900 yen for each person. I'll definitely visit if I'm in Kyoto again.
