The staff were welcoming dogs allowed . The food was great but get in early .quiz nite Sunday .Fridays happy hr. lovely walk over the bridge turn left over stepping stones along river.
This wonderful old pub has been recently taken over by the community and serves excellent beer (Black Sheep and Yorkshire Dales Brewery) as well as a modest but solid range of excellent pub food. Meet the locals and interesting people from all over the world in a genuinely friendly Dales pub. Highly recommended.
Great to see a community owned pub thriving. Not surprising, the food was really fab and the beer well kept. Bravo!
Highly recommended. This strikes me as a traditional Dales pub that's lovingly cared for. The staff were very welcoming and took time to chat with a genuine interest in what I was doing. There was a good range of local ales and other beers and spirits. The food was of a very good standard and came in very generous portions. Not an enormous menu but enough to please. I had Yorkshire ham sandwich that included 3 thick slices of meat (beware the rind, this is Yorkshire ham after all!), a side salad (that essentially was a full and fresh salad!) and a mound of kettle crisps, absolutely delicious! I saw other food coming out that looked equally as good. I think they serve food all day from midday. I will definately go back again.
