The only place in Tywyn where I have been made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Visited with friends who are blind, I too am blind The cafe was busy and we couldn’t work out if there were any tables free. Nobody, staff and patrons alike, attempted to help us apart from when we turned to leave when we were told to use the one way system in a somewhat unfriendly manner. Again, no help with which way to go. The whole room seemed to go quiet as we left. I’ll never go back there. Pity as we’d just had a very enjoyable trip on the railway itself.

I'll get the only negative out of the way first: the service here is really slow. I mean REALLY SLOW. But, once the food arrives, it's great and reasonably priced too. They also serve (probably) the best real ale in Tywyn, which is worth visiting for on its own. An added bonus is the location, as you can watch the heritage engines coming and going while you eat and drink.

Don't bother with the pretentious salt marsh cafe/bar/whatever it is. If you want to feel welcome this is the place to go. Lovely, pleasant staff and situated right by the railway so you can watch the train's come and go whilst you eat. The breakfast is tasty and cheaper than everywhere else and you can swap out things you don't eat, like black pudding for something else, at no extra cost.
