Lovely pub with great food at a good price and a nice ambience and extremely friendly and pleasant staff. The baked camembert starter in particular was lovely, and there is a good selection of beers on tap. Dropping a star because they could do with working on communication - I had to phone up 4 or 5 separate times before I could book a table (important to be able to book at the moment rather than just showing up!) and the website information doesn't seem to be kept up to date - it told us they were closed on Mondays but staff at Hever Castle B&B informed us it was in fact open!
Overall, very good. Great castle, human size and not exhausting. Beautiful ambience. Fantastic grounds, and now in the Autumn, the trees are a blaze of colour. The walks are many and varied - lakes, woodlands, waterfalls, walled gardens, exotic flowers. The b&b was overall good,with amazing breakfast. The room was good, once we'd sorted out the aircon. But the noise from above showed they need to improve the sound insulation.
We visited this pub in July last year after a day out at Hever Castle and WOW!! The food was out of this world. There was a little bit of a wait for food, I assume due to others also going there after their day out to Hever Castle, but it was totally worth the wait. Even my Son who can be a fussy eater cleared his plate! So that is a testament to how good the food is. I will be returning
Excellent place with hearty food and heartwarming atmosphere. An excellent dinner choice if you are staying in Hever Castle.
