We went last weekend to this park and it happened to be a warm winter day here in VA. The trails were nicely marked and maintained. We ended up camping here the night by the river. Camping is primitive and you have to be willing to hike 3 miles to the campsite. We were blessed with a beautiful sunset. The wood took a while to catch fire, but we managed to keep it going for a couple hours. Wood is on sale (honor system) for 4. Can't wait to make it a longer trip. Make sure you have the proper gear if you are winter camping.

Very busy park, trails well maintained, views are definitely worth the visit Beach access from Boyd's Hole Trail A marsh walk is covered by water in part of it but from the looks, the park has plans to upgrade this walkway I saw no bicycle signs on some trails.. not sure why the restriction because a lot of trails are wide

Absolutely beautiful. The trails are spacious and pristine. The view of the Potomac River is fabulous. Great opportunity for a variety of outdoor activities.

Super surprised today visiting your beautiful park, we hiked a good 4 miles. Once we trekked to the river, we walked the beach area. Note: bring a bag and help clean up small debris washed a shore, then carry out, it makes it nice for all.It was an easy hike through the woods and back on the main trail. Most trails are gravel covered, so easy for all abilities. Good area for mountain biking. Places to stop and rest along the way. Bring a snack or picnic, but remember carry out what you bring in, to keep this a pristine park for all to enjoy! BTW, most people wore masks today and of course socially distanced when they passed us. America sure is beautiful! ENOY IT!

Excellent hills for running. The trails are well kept and there were not any major issues. I do recommend being prepared for some of the steep climbs, as they took me by surprise.
