Best meal I have eaten in Japan. Got the tempura and tofu. May have been the best tofu I have ever eaten in my life. Staff was very accommodating and polite. Views of the river and trees are great. There was also a side dish which I don’t know what it was but it was phenomenal.

One of the best meals we had in Japan. We chose an extensive kaiseki set meal which came with course after course of delicious food including the delicious ayu fish on a platter with artwork traced in salt. Sitting by the waterfall was an unforgettable experience, especially refreshing on a hot summer day.

Incredible eating experience. Amazing atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Do yourself a favor and make the trek out here. An experience not to be missed. Staff speaks very little English so practice a little Japanese or have a translator app for asking any specific questions.

Wonderful evening at this riverbed restaurant. Situated to the north of Kyoto it's a good 30min drive from central Kyoto. We paid 5,000 yen each way in a taxi. We were greeted by a very friendly manager who was delightful from start to finish. She took great care to explain the restaurant and ensure we were very happy. The tables are traditional Japanese with very low table and tatami mats. If you are accustomed to sitting cross legged this is great. If you are a modern westerner however this can be quite uncomfortable. I ended out sitting an a variety of positions, none really comfortable. If you have hip, back, knee to ankle issues this may not be a comfortable dinner for you. Sitting on a platform above the flowing water was great with sounds and cool air rushing past. Seating aside the food was amazing. You preorder a menu and you are \surprised\ with a seasonal feast on your arrival. Our food was amazing and the steak was absolutely tender and extremely tender. Sushi was equally as good. We all had a wonderful (though a little uncomfortable) evening with a food and ambient experience I will not forget. Highly recommended.

A beautiful and serene dining experience which is a great break from the warm and humid city climate of summertime Kyoto. One of the items on the menu is ayu, a fish prepared in a famous style that leaves the fish looking as if it is frozen in time whilst swimming around. When we felt cold, we were provided with covers by the attentive attendants, and at the end of the visit, we were given souvenir fans, and a ride to the train station.
