Great for letting the kids run wild and using up some of that energy. Safe and clean. Also used by dog walkers.
Historic aerodrome. Nice walk in the fresh air. Good place to teach the children how to ride a bike
I love being on the common with my dogs. I rarely join the march around the perimeter road preferring instead to follow the mown paths around the edges or dropping down on the well maintained paths along Whyteleafe Bank, in awe at the swathes of cowslips (right now) and all the other wild flowers emerging from the cleared slopes. There has been an amazing amount of clearance over the past 10 years, creating new paths, views, accessibility etc. The common is so much more than the airfield and I highly recommend following new paths and exploring.
