Buddhist temple in Kandy.You can have good view of Kandy town from the top of this temple. It is relaxing place and this is one of the tallest Buddha Satus in country.It is unfortunate that they are charging entrance fee from foreigners.

One of the most beautiful place and biggest statue in kandy. 2 km away from The Temple of The Tooth and was built in 1972. Very elegant surrounding. Also could reach to the top of the statue by staircase which on back.
Peaceful place with good city views. You can climb up the Buddha statue. It is impressive to see the grandeur of the statue.

It's hardly worth the 500 Rs entry fee. You get a nice view on Kandy Lake however. A photo of the statue you can also take from outside the area.

Beautiful place with calm surroundings
Sri Maha Bodhi Maha Viharaya or Bahirawakanda Temple is one of the greatest buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. It has a history dated back to Kandyan kingdom. The shrine of Lord Buddha, which is 88 feet in height, is the main attraction here for both local and foreign tourists. According to history the Bodhi tree in the temple is also important as it has a direct connection to famous "Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi" in Anuradhapura. Beauty of surroundings full of mountains, clouds, mist and busy life of Kandy city can be seen from here which is on top of Bahirawakanda mountain. Therefore buddhists visit this temple for inner peace.
