The oldest hotel in Kandy and one of the oldest and historical buildings in the center of Kandy. Situated between the Temple of tooth relic and the Nuwara Wewa it really has nice scenarios. The facilities are good and really gives you the feeling of an ancient environment but with modern equipments. Also there is a very old elevator which is still functioning. The buffet was good and had a wide variety but the food was not upto the standard. The other food too were not much good in taste and the portion sizes were small. Overall it's a unique place and a must visit if you are a tourist but maybe they could improve with the food a little bit.

We went to have dinner last night at this beautiful colonial hotel in the heart of the even more beautiful city of Kandy, the last Kingdom of Sri Lanka. In spite of the China virus restrictions, the staff did a great job making us feel welcome , comfortable and safe. The food and the beverage was good although not everything in the menu was available due to import restrictions from the China virus , but we had a great meal , a lovely evening and can highly recommend this venue for indoor dining in a comfortable and safe manner.
It's location is the best, if you're here for sightseeing. The rooms are cool and so is the lift since it's a very old hotel. The food is actually very average tbh. Nothing special.
Highly recommended place, world class hotel. One of the beautiful and historical hotel in hill country Sri Lanka which has long history from colonial era. The hotel located infront of the Temple of Tooth and near Kandy Lake (walking distance to Temple of Tooth). The building has colonial style architecture it is about 160 years old. So many restaurant in the hotel and you can try different types of foods even local foods.
Don't have good service. Breakfast is good. Rooms are old.
Food was tasty but a bit oily. Visited in a while.....so felt that it wasn't upto previous standards. Staff was lovely.
The oldest hotel in the region since 1869. Located exactly infront of temple of the tooth. Ideal place for those who are planning to roaming around the city. This a kind of historical hotel which was served for royal family. At the moment management is under hotel cooperation and still trying to maintain the antique quality. Room floors are made by wood.Only washrooms could be improved, but other all are in average stands. Parking space is very limited but valet parking facility is available. There is a nice bar counter and a swimming pool. Can be recommended as a budget 3 star hotel.
A historical and wonderful place to stay in middle of Kandy
