This place has to be an institution to the Ginseng Chicken Soup. Everyone local and foreign knows and would have come into this place. So easy to locate. Really. You literally just need to follow the stream of warm bodies and other tourist headed in the same general direction. Expect to wait a little, but fortunately once you set foot through the door you will find this restaurant to be HUGE. And the turn around pretty fast. I enjoyed my meal in general. Who doesn't enjoy a hot bowl of chicken soup in winter right? I did find everything to be a little bland. Easily fixed with a dash more salt.

South Korea very famous ginseng chicken soup!! Served with Ginseng shots too!!! And the kick is superb. Thinking back, still amazed by this dish! I always knew South Korea is a gemplace for Ginseng, didn't know they made shots with it. Its sold in bottles too! Anyway Ginseng chicken could be quite bland for you if you are a heavy eater like me, there's always kimchis to go with.
The best chicken soup in S. Korea, I love to have it again once I will be there. Place is very traditional and custom dishes and Korean cuisines. Excellent!
Love the ginseng chicken. We had the black chicken which is less common. The menu shows a recommended way of eating where you dip the chicken in salt and pepper - so good. Also tried the roast chicken, which was unexpectedly good too. Very well roasted and tender, it was tasty down to the bone.
The line was long but it moved extremely quickly (10 to 15 min) and was definitely worth the wait. This restaurant offered their specialty: ginseng chicken soup. Consisted of a whole chicken stuffed with rice, herbs, vegetables and a generous stalk of ginseng. Hearty and a must try on a cold winters day. They offer both regular chicken (white) as well as black chicken. Restaurant is situated quite close to the Gongbukgong palace and is quite easy to find (you'll see the long line outside)
I am not usually a fan of Ginseng, but having this soup during Winter made my trip worthwhile. The ginseng taste was not so strong and I liked having the glutinous rice stuffed inside the fowl. The meal itself felt comforting and tasted clean and not salty, though it was recommended that you can eat the meat with salt and pepper on the side.
Excellent food and very delicious. The service was very fast. We enjoyed and would go back. Highly recommend.
It's a must-visit restaurant in Seoul. If you are visiting Korea, you shouldn't miss one of Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup, or Samgyetang. The portion is extremely big for one person, and the price is also expensive. However, it's worth the try because it's very delicious.
