Famous mung bean pancake place. So cheap at 4000 won

I used to really like this place and gave it a high rating - prices were cheap, the mung bean pancakes were great (albeit greasy), and overall the service was decent (albeit the employees seem to be Chinese of Korean decent). Recently, however, they seemed to have changed the recipe BIG TIME or something more sinister, unforgiving. Before, the mung bean pancakes (their claim to fame) were simple and made with mung bean batter and only bean sprouts, and definitely WITHOUT KIMCHII. It was a bit greasy, but still good. Now it has kimchii, however. I LOVE kimchii, but this changed the flavor and level of sodium content. Having kimchii isn't the problem, however. When I asked an employee, she initially said they NEVER added kimchii in the pancakes - wasn't part of the recipe. When I mentioned that they tasted different from before and saltier, perhaps due to the kimchii, the management changed its story and claimed kimchii was \always\ a part of the recipe and that in the past my pancakes may have been made from batter that didn't have too much kimchii. Hmmm. Really? I think what they started to do was add kimchii and, perhaps, kimchii leftovers as I noticed an employee carefully collecting leftovers. Lastly, there were several shops with the same name and logo. Recently, all but 2 of the shops remained (2 nearest to the main street entrance from the Jongro 5-Ga bus stops), the rest having a black cover saying they're no longer Soonhee due to a family dispute. Conclusion: the recipe changes seem to be the result of a family dispute. Not going back to places that change from their roots.

I was traveling with 2 local friends and went there for late night supper. The waiter asked us to order at least 2 pancakes for three of us. That request did not make sense at all! If you wanna make more money we could order something else instead of ordering too much pancakes. It was late and obviously not possible for us to finish them. That was a total waste! Most important of all, the taste was terrible!

This was the best mung bean pancake I've had. To be honest, it's the only Mung bean pancake I've had. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Although these pancakes are floated and soaked in oil, they are surprisingly delicious. I would highly recommend.

The taste is ok. Super oily, not very flavorful. Edible but not worth the price. On top of that, They’re excessively rude. They don’t acknowledge you at all, and literally shove you out of the way. Don’t go here unless you feel like being treated like dirt. Seriously the worst service and attitude I’ve ever experienced. Do not recommend.
