This place is really worth a visit to every Jamon Aficionado... Thank’s to MARCO ÁLVAREZ VON CAPPELN for a private visit to curing cellars:) Thank’s to him we learned how Cinco Jotas Jamon differs from other manufacturers products and why it’s SO TASTY... we also learned that reservation of factory tour should be made good time in advance, because these guys are often fully booked even during low season.
I really enjoyed this visit. Cinco Jotas is owned by Osbornes and you can really see they have invested in the visitors centre. Super flash, really nicely done. The best thing was the host Peter and the other staff. They really made you feel welcome and super welcome. They really explained the whole process. My only grip is that it’s pricey. We decided to the whole thing and visited the pigs out in the campo - this was a high light really as you get to see the wonderful countryside around the area. Peter was really excellent!! I have been on Port tours in Oporto and this tour is as professional - really good, really informative. Tasting the different cuts of Jamon was great too. A really enjoyable experience
