First of all, respect for all FireFighters. Amazing work and usually great people. Pretty surprised/annoyed when called 911 the other Day and asked to be connected, ***because i was out of my mobile service or wifi area, and only emergency calls available, and i did not know the WildFires #***. I fully understand normally not supposed to use 911 in this case, but it was only option i felt at the moment, and i even acknowledged it first thing when connected. I had seen a CampFire burning and wanted to be sure no FireBans, and quickly, as the region is so dry. Again, I know 911 not meant for this, but had no other option at the fairly urgent moment, and even started the conversation by saying i knew it wasnt the right number...but it was with good intent and possible trouble. Instead of understanding or getting to the point of my call, the lady that answered told me i shouldnt be calling that line and that she didnt know current WildFire/Fire Bans, and that i should get online to search it myself....yes...agreed, except as mentioned, i had NO SIGNAL OR WILDFIRE #, which is why i thought best to inform/call via 911. In the end, i explained there was a Fire burning, and still she just said she didnt know of the restrictions in the area...HER AREA...and that i should find myself. I didnt have any mobile access so was left having to do nothing. In the end, fortunately, once back to phone service, i learned the FireBan ended, it was only by chance. Really wish she would have taken the Time to hear why calling, and understanding it was with good intent, rather than scolding & offering no assistance. Had it been only Days before, when FireBan was in effect, that could have been a serious risk. Again, respect to all FireFighters, and appreciate your work.
