Fantastic coffee, polite, chatty and welcoming staff and delicious food. The range of cycling spares and kit is also really useful and of good quality. Well worth a visit.

We stopped here on the way through Ilkley for a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, the staff are very polite and the coffee was excellent. The shop is a combined coffee shop and cycling retail shop which is unusual but it seems to work very well, there is no parking on site however we parked around the corner which is only 2-minutes walk.

My first visit to Commute was only around three weeks ago, but I’ve been back four or five times since. Because they’re a cycling focused cafe, it makes a lot of things a whole lot easier: they provide racks and locks outside; they fully expect people to rock up in lycra; they have a great little shop attached to the cafe. That said, there are a lot of non-cycling customers that head there, too—the coffee is great, the place if comfy and cosy, and the selection of cakes is always plentiful. But the main thing here is the staff—they just ‘get it’. Not only are they polite, they’re incredibly helpful and accommodating. I had a bit of a nightmare with mechanicals at a recent sportive and once I’d managed to get hold of relevant spares (from their own shop!) they let me sit with a coffee while I fixed things up in the cafe. They then let me stash any leftover parts behind the counter while I went off to complete the event. It might not sound like much, but without that, I would have had to abandon the event entirely. This is a wonderful little place with great coffee and amazing staff.
