I recently spent 4 days at the Leather Repair Company in Hull to learn all the aspects of cleaning, repairing and restoring vehicle leather. The course was excellent and Richard's knowledge is incredible! there's nothing he cannot answer. I would highly recommend their courses if you are thinking of improving your own business or just looking for a fresh start. I am now very much looking forward to putting my knowledge into practice on my clients vehicles, as well as building a whole new side to my detailing/valeting business :)

We bought a colouring kit to make over a sofa and matching easy chair. The sofa was in good structural condition but showing its 16 years. I was really pleased with how well both items came up with both chair and sofa looking almost new again. The process did take time but the results were well worth the effort we put in. The kit in the box was very comprehensive. I opted to use a pair of fabric backed rubber gloves to avoid hot hands, but the kit did include protective gloves. One of the things we were very pleased with was the lack of mess. There was the odd splash when we were removing the original colouring but this was minimal. However we did make sure we had a plastic sheet down. The videos on line are really good and yes the paint does dry as quick as it did on the video. The telephone advice was also very good.

I am so glad I attended the Leather Repair Company’s 4 day training course in July. The course facilities were excellent and the staff so friendly and helpful, this created a great place and atmosphere to learn, practice and develop new skills. Richard’s training was first class and he shared a fantastic amount of knowledge and expertise in all things leather and repairs which he had gained over 30 years in the business. The course was very easy to follow with step by step hands on tuition and lots of practice sessions on tears, rips, cuts, holes and recolouring to name a few. I left fully confident with the ability to take on jobs I would have normally turned away and the reassurance that I have support at the end of the phone when needed. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who wishes to develop their existing skills or to add leather repairs to their current business.

Unfortunately there is no clear pricing point for their repairs service. I emailed hoping for information and a clear quote however I was given a ranging price which was varied. Thinking I had a small rip, I went into store and showed the jacket in person and the scale of the rip. The sales representative went and spoke to the tailor, the price was quoted at the top end of what I was quoted when I emailed. 79 for a small rip. I felt for size of the rip the price was too much. The jacket was perforated and the rip would not be a clean finish, not easy which I understood to an extent. However no one could justify the price point to me, after I questioning it. The tailor could not be bothered to speak to me and justify the price or even explain the process. With no one telling me why the price was the top end of the estimate , it felt the quote was given off the top of their heads. The sales assistant understood my concerns and could see I was willing to pay and get the job done, I just needed information and explanation which Isn't too much to ask. But it seems that customer retention or closing a deal doesn't seem to be a concern to this business. After what I felt, was the team making a price up and not being able to justify it. The whole process seemed disorganised and I left very disappointed. I was walking into store with the sole intention to leave as a paying customer. It was the lack of information and simple customer service that has lost them a sale. Very Disappointing.
