Great gym and amazing staff
like
The place is not properly maintained and the staff is not properly managed and monitored. Now I am told “the timetable on website is wrong and always been like that” ! This is the service our local Council has appointed for us, remember when you go vote. In past the staff simply used to play the card \I haven't seen it.. So never happened\... Nevertheless with current management this place will never be safe (see photos). The place is only few years old since refurbished and now breaks pieces(fire exists broken, steam room safely control broken, sauna room broken, cleaning tools laying around unsafe and so many other “small” issues like clocks are not working). The lockers are not available for years and hairdryer’s wires are pealing. How a public facility owned by local Council is mismanaged by a “charity” named Fusion Lifestyle without tripping any control from the public authorities is a mister.
The centre has a two swimming pools, one for kids and one main adult pool. Also there is a sauna and steam room. What I like about this centre is that the male and female health suit is not mixed, there is a separate changing room for men aswell as a separate steam room and sauna for the men and a separate one for the women. There is a mid size mixed gym, with a variety of equipment. Also there are two studios for classes or for some quiet workout if you wish. I tend to come in the mornings after 8am as there tends to be less people so you get more chance and more time to use the equipment. But it can be more busy in the evenings after work hours but not too busy unlike other mainstream gyms. Plenty of lockers rooms, a pound coin needed to operate for a safe and very secure locker. A 36 gym membership gets you unlimited access to the gym, sauna and steam room anytime ,anyway you want which is a bargain. Paying for these facilities adds up so I would recommend the membership. Brilliant and helpful staff always there to help and show you how to use the equipment making you feel welcome and comfortable if your new.
The pool is medium sized- has a deep end and non deep end- for experienced swimmers too as there are 3 swimming lanes. Very good gym, pretty busy with a variety of different machines. Its newly built so everything is clean. There are seperate changing rooms for swimming and other activities. The lockers require a padlock but hair drying is free. The activities classes are average but spinning classes are very good. There are 3 vending machines and a cafe that serve healthy salads, sandwiches and shakes aswell as ice cream and chocolates. The recption desk is friendly and helpful and they sell swimming clothing inside. Extra plus bonus is a small jungle gym for kids to play in!
