What an amazing day! Four sperm whales, one sei whale, countless spotted dolphins and huge fun in rough seas.

Animals before business. This is a moto that could illustrate Pedro and his team’s philosophy. We took a private day trip. It worth the investment as we could see much more animals than what we could expect : sei whales, sperm whales (breaching !!!), playful false killer whales, bottlenose whales, turtle, spotted dolphin, striped dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, shearwaters. Thanks for the amazing day.

Oh. What to say. Of course I want to say how unforgettable Pedro is. He picked us up. Took us to lookout points and the caldeira. He explained the history of the people and the evolution of the terrain. We went to lookouts of beaches with crashing waves on roads we would not have found if we had rented a car. For lunch we went to a sustainable organic restaurant with views of Pico, cows, and the GOLF course. There was a delicious 3 entree buffet selection with cookies and cream for dessert . After lunch went to the volcano museum that what looked dull... he made so interesting. My husband will be telling Faial and Pedro stories now until he dies. ️

We only had one full day on Faial and we were incredibly fortunate for two things; good weather and a fantastic day with Filipe from Azores Experiences on a Jeep Tour (specially a Land Rover Defender). Filipe took us around the entire island, taking time to stop and provide tons of helpful context and knowledge. Moreover, in addition to being a phenomenal host and excellent guide, he did it all in a way that really felt as though we were touring the island with a friend. This made for such a nice experience and really allowed us to take in a lot of Faial within a condensed period of time. We couldn’t have had a better person to experience it with and we’re hopeful that we’ll be fortunate enough to return and book with Azores Experiences again!

If you want to see whales, in a respectful way, if you want a skipper who loves his job, who loves the animals more than the quick dollar in his pocket, who loves to share everything he knows about them and feels for them, Pedro is your man! If you need support during your stay, beyond the whale watching tour, Pedro again is your man. Definitely an unforgettable experience.

What he said!!! These guys, Pedro, Marie and Nacho know their business and the sea. We went swimming with common dolphin then word came through of whale and they put us tight on them some 20km off south of Pico island. Unbelievable day. They manage you're expectations, skipper their boat beautifully, give you s tonne of info about the wildlife and habitat and above all show passion and respect for the animals. Second firm we have used on our two weeks in Azores and these guys are it!!! In fact we booked to go whale watching with them again on Thursday, day before we leave. You will not be disappointed.
